Ekiti State University, EKSU, Ado-Ekiti, College of Medicine, has been given full accreditation after ten years by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
The full accreditation is for a period of five years for the first instance. The message was conveyed to the University authority through an email from the Medical Council.
With this development, the College can now go ahead to hold the final Professional MBBS Examination for the students very soon.
The Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor (Mrs) Olubunmi Ajayi, who received the news with joy, appreciated stakeholders, particularly, the Executive Governor and Visitor to the University, Dr Kayode Fayemi, as well as parents of the students for providing crucial financial and logistic support in facilitating the accreditation of the medical programme.
The Head, Director of Information and Corporate Affairs, Mr. Bode Olofinmuagun, said the Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ajayi, expressed appreciation to the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) for the gesture.
It will be recalled that the medical students of the University had stagnated for about 10 years due to non accreditation of the programme of the MBBS in the university.
