Senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio, has met with President Muhammadu Buhari, ahead of a reported plan to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former governor of Akwa Ibom is purportedly preparing to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a few days.
He met with Buhari during the weekend in London, UK, where the president is currently on vacation.
Akpabio was said to have also met with Acting President Yemi Osinbajo earlier in the week.
Okoi Obono-Obla, senior special assistant to the president on prosecution, had said the PDP senator will be welcomed into the party on Thursday at a rally in Akwa Ibom.
What Akpabio told Buhari
“You remain the father of the nation, our father and political father to all.
“Just like i told Asiwaju BAT and VP Osibaba yesterday in Nigeria…
“Those who think that they have politically grown to insult you will all regret it before month end sir.
“I am here (london) to register my undiluted love and unalloyed support to you.
“I was involved in all their meetings and I know what their plans are.
“The long recess of NASS is going to be your advantage and not theirs like they thought and planned,” he said to Mr President.
