The Edo State chapter of the People’s Party of Nigeria (PPN) on Sunday received new members including Ward Leaders who defected from APC and PDP.

In a ceremony held in Benin, the new members promised to throw their weight behind Iyoha John Darlington popularly known as IJD who is the governorship aspirant of PPN in Edo State.

In a speech delivered by IJD at the ceremony, he lamented the decadence of infrastructure in the state, stating that the current government has failed the people of Edo State woefully.

He stated that he was irked by the death of 96 Nigerians of Edo extraction who perished in the Mediterranean sea in 2018 on their way to Europe.

He attributed this avoidable disaster to the failure of governance. This gave birth to the Turin Declaration where Edo State citizens in diaspora resolved to change the narrative and make the state a better place.

He emphasised that a serious State government should not rely on Federal Government allocation alone but must explore means to generate revenue so as to finance State projects.

He promised to regenerating Edo State by revamping agriculture and other economic activities capable of boosting Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

He also stated that 700,000 jobs will be created for the teeming unemployed youths of the state.

These, he said, will make Edo people smile again.
