The former minister of works and ex-chairman, board of trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Tony Anenih, is dead.
Chief Anenih died in Abuja at 85 years old.
Until his exit, Chief Anenih was also a former National Chairman of the defunct Social Democratic Party, SDP.
Governor Obaseki said Chief Anenih contribution to the nation would be missed.
Obaseki who spoke through his Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, in Benin, the state capital said the people of the State are consoled by the fact the Chief Anenih lived a long and fruitful life.
He said the demise of Chief Anenih is more saddened as it happened at a time the country is going into electioneering campaigns.
Governor Obaseki said the state would mourn his demise and missed his fatherly role in bringing people together.
On his part, the PDP Yputh leader in Edo stat3, Comrade Thaddeus Irabor said his death was a terrible and tragic thing to both Edo state, Nigeria and her citizens.
He described him as a political sage, voice to the voiceless, leader of everybody, father to the fatherless and the voice of Edo people who never had boundaries on issues of welfare of his people, the nation’s growth and development.
