CRISTIANO RONALDO has finally ended his Juventus goal drought with a double against Sassuolo.
The 33-year-old has been struggling to find the back of the net after three frustrating games in Serie A.
But he did the job this time at the Juventus Stadium, knocking in from just a yard out after a defensive mishap from Gianmarco Ferrari saw the ball bounce off the post.
It landed straight in his path and he did what he has done 606 times in his career and rattled it into the net.
Ronaldo sprinted away towards the corner where he performed his trademark celebration with his arms outstretched.
And he only had to wait another 15 minutes for his second as a smooth counter attack saw him with the ball in the opponents’ box.
And he dispatched a rocket straight across Andrea Consigli’s goal and into the far corner for 2-0.
It was a swift counter attack from the Max Allegri’s side, with former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can bringing the ball from box to box before sending a nice through ball to the forward.
Sassuolo had thought they had taken a shock first-half lead when Duncan hit a thunderbolt past Wojciech Szczesny, but the referee ruled it out for a foul in the build-up.
There was controversy late on though as Sassuolo scored through Khouma Babacar’s header but Douglas Costa appeared to shamefully spit at opponent Federico di Francesco before he was sent off following a VAR call.
