EDO 2020: I do fear, the people choose Caesar for their king – By Iyoha John Darlington

I have found it absolutely necessary to write again in the course of our nation’s history as we count down to September 19 to exercise our civic obligations.

Today, on the one hand, we are torn between two decisions and on the other hand the impending devastating effects of the blunder we will make collectively as a people.

It is generally accepted that character trait develops on the inside and in consequence of this, we assess and evaluate people’s word and behaviour.

While doing this, we try to see if it is within someone’s character to always stay true to their word. This without ambiguity is character trait to the best of my knowledge.

A popular English saying has it that what is bred in the bone comes out in the flesh. As what is developed on the inside manifests – that if we need reminding – becomes the royal road to knowing someone’s personality trait.

This analogy between character and personality trait is deemed absolutely necessary to implant the sensory data on our people who have condemned themselves to despair by imbibing the nauseating phlegm being spewed from the diabolic whims and caprices of a confederacy of criminal gang whose sole intent is to foist an evil triumvirate on our land under the leadership of a desperate, serial decamper and an ambitious Homo Sapiens that would be answerable to the Bourdillion and Iyamu-based overlords. God forbid!

Have some of us ever sat back to question the rationale behind Oshiomhole’s desperation – in the face of his agonizing annihilation and humiliation via the disgraceful removal as chairman of Nigeria’s ruling party – to remotely consolidate his hold on power?

Similarly, what is Ize-Iyamu’s desperation about? In fact, what is his unbending desire to rule Edo State about considering his criminal antecedents? Frankly, I have a burning desire to know.

Only yesterday I stumbled onto a video clip where the APC flagbearer – “a man of God” – was training a cadre of criminal gang in an operational cell to unleash mayhem on Edo voters in the forthcoming Edo State governorship election if the pendulum does not swing his way.

What does one make of this obviously sad situation? Are these the types to yet again be trusted with power? The same Machiavellian overlord that left Denis Osadebe Avenue leaving behind a state saddled with massive debt burden and a sickly growth trajectory has come again in the appearance of Esau but in the deceptive voice of Jacob to canvass voters for the “Pastor” . For his gullible followers – it is a Hobson’s choice!

Put differently, I do fear the people, if any, who choose “the Pastor” to lead our people!
