Fayemi marks 100 days in office, says last administration left N155 billion debt

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has put the debt profile of the State as at October 16, 2018, at N155,791,785,214.08k, before he assume office, saying the debt include local loans and other debt profile.

Governor Kayode Fayemi, gave the figures at his first 100 days in office, while given an account of stewardship of his administration in Ekiti State at the Ekiti State House of Assembly yesterday.

Fayemi, said as a government, his administration inherited a state that was in total chaos and a people severely disoriented under a suppressive government who had raised and promoted deceit into a stage craft.

According to him, “the last 100 days have clearly shown to us, in a very practical manner, that with clarity of vision, the resolve to push through and the unflinching support of the people, there are endless possibilities in our capacities to steer our state on the path of progress”.

“Despite the meager resources at our disposal, we are meticulously delivering on our promises to the people through our various short, medium and long term socio-economic intervention programmes” “We must examine our tortuous path with a view to charting a new course for a prosperous destination, not only for us, but also for our unborn children”.

Fayemi, who in his speech however condemned borrowing to finance white elephant project, described it as unproductive , self-serving projects and grossly unpatriotic, adding that many success stories to recount within this short, but remarkably significant period.

Fayemi, called on Ekiti people for support and cooperation of the administration to build on the gains of the past 100 days, saying all hands must be on the deck to move Ekiti forward economically, socially and politically.

“I enjoin you all to keep supporting us, especially in the areas of tax payment and selfless suggestions on how to jointly move Ekiti State forward”

Earlier in the day, Governor Fayemi, had signed into law the 2019 appropriation bill, promising that the state will experience progress and development.

The four in one, 100 days in office as government witness the flagging-off of the New Iyin road road construction by Dr. Fayemi and the flagging off of the training and empowerment of 6,300 women and youths in Ekiti State.

In his speech at the programme, the Director General of the National Directorate of Employment, NDE, Dr. Nasir Ladan, described the activities of Dr. Kayode Fayemi’s 100 days in office as impressive. He called on the women and youths in the state that would be trained in various skills by the NDE to commits themselves to the training saying they would benefits more.

10,000 women and youths are to be trained in various skills and empowered with various sums of money.

Governor Fayemi, while speaking at the flag-off said N15.7 billion has been appropriated in the 2019 budget for the social investment programme in the state.

He said the state is poised to better the lots of the youths and women in Ekiti just as he commended President Muhammadu Buhari, on the school feeding programs which will commence in Ekiti State in February.
