The Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has sealed-off three properties belonging to former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam.
Our correspondent observed yesterday that the properties with inscription of EFCC on them include; the Metropolitan Hotel along FMC road, a residential building still under construction by the river side and his family house in HUDCO quarters, all in Makurdi.
Efforts to reach the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Michael Gusa, for comment on the issue proved abortive as he did not answer calls put through to him. Efforts to also reach the former governor through his aides were not successful.
The action may not be unconnected to the alleged misappropriation of N107 billion by Suswam, as contained in the Justice Elizabeth Kpojime’s panel of inquiry which also indicted 52 other people.
The panel set up by incumbent Governor Samuel Ortom on assumption of office had alleged that the people fingered tampered with the state funds in various ways during Suswam’s administration in the state between 2007 and 2015.
