Kidnapped Assistant Police Commissioner yet to be found

The police command in Zamfara and Kaduna States are battling to unravel the mystery behind the abduction of Assistant Police Commissioner, ACP, Emmanuel Agene, who was abducted while travelling with his driver on the Funtua-Birnin-Gwari road.

ACP Agene was traveling back to his station in Gusau on Wednesday after his casual leave when he was abducted by some yet to be identified gunmen.

The Kaduna State police command on Friday, confirmed the abduction of the police chief.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Kaduna State, ASP Mukhtar Hussein Aliyu, who confirmed the incident, said efforts were on to rescue the police boss and his driver.

It was learnt from a police source in Gusau that the kidnappers made contact with the police command in Zamfara State and demanded N50 million as ransom. The kidnappers were said to have contacted the Zamfara State Police Command on Thursday.

The police are said to be worried as the kidnappers have not made further contacts since the first one.

The Zamfara State Police Command has refused to comment on the matter and could not confirm whether ransom was demanded.
