Man killed by cultists from Adekunle Ajasin University

Suspected cultistss have stabbed to death a 23-year-old man, Felix Olowookere, at Akungba-Akoko in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State. The cultists, sources said, were students of the state-owned Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba- Akoko (AAUA).


Olowookere, said to be seeking admission into the university, was killed at Otakoba area of Ibaka- Akungba at the weekend. It was learnt that one of the students, who was owing the deceased N3,500, allegedly sent the cultists on the operation who used a broken bottle to stab Olowookere.

Sources said the incident led to youth protest at the university town. The Police Area Commander in Akoko, Mr. Razak Rauf, who confirmed the story, said those involved in the killing were now at large and the police would soon arrest them.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi J o s e p h , also confirmed the story. According to him, no suspect has been arrested in connection with the crime. Meanwhile, the PPRO said a fake lawyer, Taye Mapayi, who allegedly helped two suspected armed robbers to escape from police custody had been arrested by the police.


Joseph also said some suspected kidnappers were arrested while trying to abduct a pharmacist in Owo in Owo Local Government Area.
