Medical care gets boost as Govt provides N12 million equipment

Ekiti State Government has supplied hospital equipment worth over N12 million to all its Comprehensive Health Centres across 16 local government areas of the state.

Presenting the hospital equipment on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, the Director of Administration and Supply, Mr. Oluwafemi Obasanmi, called on all Medical Officers across the Local Government Areas of the State to make proper use of the equipment.

She noted that the presentation was in fulfilment of the promise made by the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, to give free health to the generality of the people in Ekiti.

Olomojobi said that over 400 people have been screened for the on-going free cataract surgery graciously sponsored by Dr. Kayode Fayemi led administration which she said would cost government the sum of N50,000 naira per person.

“the general cost incurred on the surgery together with over N12 million naira set aside by the State government for the purchase and supply of the health equipment to all comprehensive health centres would further enabled all Ekiti citizens to have access to qualitative health services as promised by the Governor”


Responding on behalf of other Medical Officers, Mrs Anthony Betty, appreciated the State government for keeping to it’s promises, particularly in the area of healthcare services and promised that the equipment would be well managed and used appropriately to cater for the health challenges confronting the people of the State.

Some of the equipments distributed included Delivery Tables, Adult Weighing Scale, Electro Surgical Machines, Baby Weighing Scale amongst several others.

The second phase of Ekiti Free Health Mission would commence on Wednesday 20th February, 2019 and this will take place across the remaining five local government areas that are yet to be covered.
