The patriarch of the Ibru dynasty and successful businessman, Olorogun Michael Ibru, died Tuesday at the age of 85, the family said.

In a statement by the family, it said  the Otota of Agbarha-Otor kingdom died at a medical facility in the United States of America in the early hours of Tuesday, September 6, 2016, following complications from a protracted illness.

The husband of former managing director of Oceanic Bank, Cecilia Ibru, died five weeks after his brother, Felix, who died in March this year, was buried.

The late Ibru was a successful business man and ran for the governorship of the defunct Bendel State in 1983, which he lost to Samuel Ogbemudia.

He attended the famous Igbobi College, Lagos between 1948 and 1951.

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday commiserated with the family. A statement by the presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, said Buhari equally condoled the government and people of Delta State and the Urhobos in particular on the passage of their illustrious son.
