I am not just an Abian, I am an Igbo. I am not inclined to any organized political party but would subscribe for the All Progressive Congress (APC) in line with my believe that there is a great hope for my people, Igbo and Nigeria at large in the ruling party, APC.
It’s time we stopped worrying and learned to love and appreciate ourselves for the good of ourselves as a people. We cannot look the other way, criticizing Orji Kalu in his unwavering efforts to connect Igbo to the ruling party while fanning the embers of a federally structured Nigeria. Kalu is not just waking up to say we are good as Nigerians and will get better from a truly federated Nigeria, he has been this call and this call has been him. To a great and greater extent, he firmly fits into the picture for such a call.
See, Kalu is one of the many good things that arecurrently happening in Nigeria’s political space, especially within the ruling party, APC for the Igbo. He has the national clout to negotiate and project Igbo better in Nigeria. Like the national chairman of APC has rightly said, “Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has done so much for us and I can’t thank him enough. APC is now vibrant in the South East and our challenges have been taken care of.”
Let’s just appreciate his efforts. We can all see what he is doing in Anambra state. With his large influence, his wands seem so strong all over the media as if he is contesting in that election. While he moves, negotiates, many ndi Anambra are joining APC for good and with other supports from the entire Anambra and APC, the party shall win in the Saturday’s governorship election.
Though the fights to shout kalu down, he is not a man that can be cupped by the palms or intimidated easily. He knows his ways. Remember, there have been no recorded gains in fighting Kalu by any political group, individual or agency, especially Igbo. Kalu has been on the fly for the good of his people without any grudge.
Instead of protesting, we should be rallying for every opposing mind to join efforts with him and other followers within the APC to project Igbo.We can’t continue to play the politics of ‘pull him down’ which has placed us on the blaming sides. We must stop blaming others for our self-inflicted wounds.
Kalu has never in any forum encouraged any group of persons to publish or drum his interest for the presidency of Nigeria come 2019 but has always voiced for power to remain in the north come 2019 calling on Igbo to rally round the ruling party, insisting that it will be the turn of the Igbos to contest and win the presidency come 2023.
The idea of scuttling the former Abia governors appreciated efforts within the APC by a few minors within the PDP as maintained by the Abia state chairman of APC, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa is quite unfair and a bad blow to Igbo. We must support kalu and every other Igbo projecting Igbo within the APC.
I have known Dr. Kalu for close to a decade and I can confirm to you that he is straight with his words. If he tells you this is what he is going to do, he would not do otherwise.
Igbo political elites must square up and ensure that more of them join the growing margin of Igbo at the grassroots moving into APC daily.
Kalu is on the right track; we must see it as such and work with him.
