A House of Representatives aspirant in Ekiti State from the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prince Gold Adesola Adedayo, has said the leadership of the APC to give the National Assembly tickets for 2019 elections to those who understand the dynamism of legislation at the federal level.

The aspirant, who is seeking for the APC ticket to represent Ekiti North Federal constituency II, comprising Moba/Ilejemeje/Ido/Osi local Governments , on Tuesday procured the nomination and expression of interest forms to contest the primary at the APC National secretariat in Abuja.

The Aspirant, who has been a Senior Legislative Assistant in the Lower Chambers of the National Assembly for 10 years and native of Osun Ekiti in Moba Local Government, has distributed 3,000 free eye glasses to the people of the federal constituency.

Adedayo said the gesture was to appreciate the populace for the over whelming support they gave to the party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, in the July 14 election.

He added that it was also a veritable weapon he could deploy to contribute to the wellbeing of the people, disclosing that eye blindness was becoming rampant in the area and that it was imperative for him to intervene to save the people from such devastating ailment.

Briefing party members in Ido Ekiti yesterday after returning to Ekiti from Abuja, Adedayo promised all-inclusive and robust representation if given the nod to represent the people.

“My intention is to partner Dr. Fayemi to bring the dividends of democracy to Ekiti. I have been a Senior Legislative Assistant in the National Assembly since 2011. I have the experience about budgeting and appropriation. I know how to fight for projects and ensure they get into the budget through the legislature.

“Dr. Fayemi is coming to face daunting tasks in terms of salary payment, job creation and infrastructure, he needs good team at the federal level to attract federal presence to Ekiti.

“What has always been our problem in Ekiti was that, those who never had the experiences were being elected as federal lawmakers. They used the first two years to learn the art of legislation and before you know it they will spend four years doing nothing. My case will be different, because that place is a familiar terrain”, he said.

On the health intervention programme, Adedayo said: “This is not the only programme we are going to do. We are still going to train our youths and women in skills acquisition. We are bringing the experts. Our target is to ensure that will treat 3,000 persons with eye defects”.

Former Council Chairman in Ido/Osi Local Government, Chief Adegoroye Olayisade and the APC Chairman in the council, Chief Femi Afolabi, applauded the gesture, saying it will go a long way in palliating the sufferings of the people.

Chief Olayisade said: “We are approaching the 2019 elections and if this kind of programme continues, then it will make APC popular in this constituency. We are pleased with the step being taken by Hon Adedayo. He has shown that he will be a group representative if given the party’s ticket.

“This is the time for us to support Moba to get the ticket, because the Ido/Osi has been agitating for Senate in Ekiti North. So, it is time to partner with them, because we can’t do it alone. “To us in Ido/Osi, we appreciate this programme and appeal to our people to make judicious use of the opportunity”, he advised.

The leader of the medical experts, Dr. Emmanuel Igalu, said some of the beneficiaries were screened for cataract, glaucoma, myopia and other forms of eye defects common to people as obtainable in other climes.

“The commonest of all these eye defects is cataract and we are addressing it. With these glasses and the prescribed drugs, we are sure that the defects will surely be corrected if the exact dosage of drugs are strictly adhered to”, he advised.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Adebimpe Fowowe, appreciated Hon. Adedayo for the gesture, saying this she expected the government to do for the people at the grassroots, but said such has not come.

“Nigeria is a developing nation and hardly could you see anyone that has a sound health, so this programme is a good one and we are assuring Hon. Adedayo that we shall support his aspiration to become a reality”.
