A four-man syndicate that specialized in armed robberies, murder and child theft, was weekend paraded by the Imo State Police Command.
They were arrested in Okporo community in Orlu Local Government Area, LGA, of the state after they killed a nursing mother and were attempting to sell her 5-month- old baby.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP, Taiwo Lakanu, who paraded the suspects, Uchenna Ozor, Prince Etim John, Chinazaekpere Nwaenyi and Chukwudi Ngbanwelu before newsmen, said they sold the infant for N300, 000 to an already waiting buyer.
According to the CP, “They hacked a nursing mother to death, smashed the husband’s head with an axe and stole their five months old baby.
“Ozor is the kingpin, John hails from Uto Abak area of Akwa Ibom, Nwaenyi and Ngbanwelu both hail from Umuabalike in Ihiala area of Anambra state.
“They have been on the wanted list of the command.
“The suspects have confessed to the crime and would soon be charged to court,” the CP added.
