Veteran actor and broadcaster, Sadiq Daba, popularly remembered by his teeming fans as Bitrus, for his role in the defunct television drama series, Cockrow At Dawn, is down with Leukemia, a cancer of the blood cells and Prostate cancer. These deadly diseases are challenging his existence and comfort.
The notable broadcaster is going through excruciating pain, and needs assistance, financial assistance urgently to survive.
The versatile actor, known for his roles in television dramas such as Behind The Clouds, Moment of Truth, co-hosted the popular AM Express with late Yinka Craig, as well as ‘Morning Ride’, and recently, for his role in Kunle Afolayan’s film October 1, has been in and out of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH) respectively for treatment of prostate cancer and leukemia.
The diseases have impacted him financially. The staggering cost of treating cancer is affecting his family.
When New Telegraph visited him at his home in Ikeja, Lagos, the once vibrant and eloquent artiste and broadcaster, was in pains, as he struggled to speak, and adjust himself on the two-sitter chair. Daba is fighting for his life at the moment.
He has a catheter inserted into manhood to ease the movement of urine. For a man who had worked so hard as a broadcaster and actor, bringing joy and hope to so many Nigerians, he expects that getting needed support would not be such a big challenge. But help has been late in coming, and in trickles. He is however hopeful that well-meaning Nigerians would come to his aid.
