Societal values need to be restore – DG Wale Ojo-Lanre

Residents of Ekiti State have been called upon to join hands with Dr Kayode Fayemi led administration in restoring the core value of honesty, diligence and integrity of the state through cultural intervention.

The Director -General, DG , Council for Arts and Culture, Mr. Wale Ojo Lanre, made the statement to commemorate the 2019 World Culture Day in the state.

The World Culture Day is celebrated to deepen peoples understanding of the values of cultural diversity and to advance the four goals of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.

Ojo Lanre noted that ” The degree of social and moral decay in the society as being witnessed today, threatens our security and peaceful existence as a people and the value we place on material things has continued to make our society unsafe is so alarming”.

He said further that ” our culture has become too much a part of us that we relegate it to third class of our priority, cultural development and promotion were never accorded enough attention and that is the bane of our current situation as a Nation.”

“It is frustrating to realize that the erosion of our culture has swept into our door steps unimaginable moral decay, our core values are becoming a thing of history”.

Ekiti people are known as people who were distinguished by their higher level of bravery loyalty, integrity and hard work, If we reactivate our core value system and celebrate the attributes listed above far above materialism, a lot would be achieved in making our society safer and more habitable”. He submitted.

He advocated for attitudinal change and positive advancement and reactivation of value system, the Chief cultural officer of the state said the second coming of Fayemi administration marks a revival of the cultural sector in the state and need to be supported by all and sundry .
