An Ilorin Magistrate’s court has ordered that two farmers, Yahaya Umaru, 25, and Abubakar Salifu, 23, both of Wobe Fulani camp via Okuta in Baruten local government area of Kwara state be remanded in prison custody for alleged murder.
The suspects were arraigned on two count of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide contrary to sections 97 and 221 of penal code law.
According to the Police First Information Report (FIR) the case was transferred from the Divisional Police headquarters, Kosubosu to Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Ilorin for discreet investigation.
It added that on August 8, 2016 one Alhaji Kuranga of Muhat Compound at Kosubosu reported at police station that both suspects were found in possession of a bag containing items suspected to be human head.
The Police explained that in the course of search of one missing Abubakar Buba Sebo by his father and other family members, one headless decomposing body was discovered.
It was further alleged that the decomposing body was identified to be the human head recovered from the suspects.
The Police told the court that investigation at CIID revealed that the suspects “gruesomely and callously conspired and tricked the deceased to a distance where he was beheaded with cutlass which caused his untimely death.”
The prosecutor, Ayeni Gbenga told the court that investigation on the case had not been concluded.
He argued that the offences allegedly committed are capital in nature and it’s not ordinarily bailable.
He, therefore, opposed the accused’s bail and urged the court to remand them at the prison custody pending conclusion of the investigation.
